Walthamstow's cool new wine bar Olfaclub also offers customisable mineral water

You've got to do a lot to stand out against the competition, particularly in London's dynamic food and wine scene. So we applaud the folk behind new E17 wine and listening bar Olfaclub for doing several things differently.

The pair behind it, Beth and Jeremy, are hoping to create a welcoming space to try out new wine. To that end, they'll be offering a wine list available exclusively by the glass. And nothing else. Right now they've got 27 options on the menu along with a couple of off-menu specials. As Beth explains, "The list is designed in a linear fashion, not by price or colour, but by its approachability including categories Easy, Playful and Wild, with each wine listed in a graded scale. Low-intervention wine created with traditional processing is the standard."

Beth's partner Jeremy has form in working to demystify but focus on one particular kind of drink. He's the man behind LONG & SHORT coffee on the same street. And just like his coffee bar offers mineral drops to add to water to make the perfect brew, Olfaclub is doing something rather fun (and interesting) on the water front. Their complementary water bar serves both still and sparkling water, letting customers remineralise the water using mineral concentrates in dropper bottles to recreate famous waters from around the world.

As for the food, that's going to be provided by a rotating list of chefs. It all sounds clever and interesting, but fun so we think it's going to do rather well in Walthamstow.
