Just a few weeks ago, The Bull in Charlbury was in the news because of an American politician. Turns out that Kamala Harris (and her security team) had been spotted attending a pre-wedding dinner at the pub before the wedding of Eve Jobs. Fast forward a month and the pub is once more hitting the headlines because of an American politician, but this time it's for who they allegedly didn't serve.
According to a report in this week's Popbitch, Vice President JD Vance had tried to book a family dinner at the popular pub while he's holidaying in the area. Apparently, "The mutinous staff all said they wouldn’t come to work if they had to serve Vance and his wife." So the booking, they say, was turned down.
News that Vance isn't dining in The Bull will probably come as a relief too, to the residents of the village the pub is in. Having seen the huge security detail the VP travels with, the only hostelry in the area that has had enough room in the car park so far has been Daylesford.
