Islington's about to get a new sushi restaurant, this time via Amsterdam. Sushi Fanatics, billed as a "hidden sushi izakaya", will be taking over the space from Hot Stone on Chapel Market.
The original Amsterdam location has built up something of a fanbase over there for their compact restaurant serving up various options of nigiri, maki, donburi and more. They also have a range of "creative maki" with options including cucumber and fried shrimp, surrounded by tuna, salmon, izumidai and avocado. Recent menus have also included various gyoza, deep-fried shrimp with crumbs with truffle mayo sauce, pumpkin croquette and chicken karaage.
The Amsterdam restaurant also has space for hidden omakase restaurant Shigre at the back, although we're yet to learn if that'll be coming to Islington. It's early days in general, so we'll update with more news closer to the opening. Industry title Propel broke the story after spotting property agents Davis Coffer Lyons announcing the deal.
