Leytonstone welcomes Forno’s second London bakery

Leytonstone welcomes Forno’s second London bakery

Hang onto your delicate strawberry and elderflower tarts, some lovely Italian patisserie news should cheer the good people of East London this week: Forno has opened a branch in Leytonstone.

If you’re not au fait with Forno, it’s an Italian bakery from the founders of Ombra, and gained an obsessive following when it opened its first site in Hackney in 2023.

While they’ve been pretty sneaky about this second venture, we have it on good authority that it will deliver the same flaky, sweet and savoury delights as Hackney’s Forno. So you should be able to find filled maritozzi (including an XXL version), torta Caprese, Veneziana buns, rosemary focaccia and more.

And there may not be pizza just yet, but rest assured, it’s coming. If you’ve seen the mouthwatering shots of the Puglia-inspired focaccia barese - crispy yet chewy, oozing datterino tomatoes, studded with castelvetrano and kalamata olives, speckled with oregano – on their Instagram page, you’ll know it’s a pleasing development.

The new Leytonstone Forno is already open every day from 8am to 4pm, but you know the drill with next-level bakeries: the earliest bird catches the best laminated pastries and sourdough bread. Follow your nose and then the queue.
