When you can’t have too much of a good thing, along comes the third Ta’mini Lebanese Bakery in London. After successful launches in Fulham (during the first COVID lockdown of 2020) and Bloomsbury (in 2023), Ta’mini will next waft the aromas of freshly baked date bread through the streets of Kensington.
The husband-and-wife team behind the concept - Ali from North Lebanon and Nermin from Beirut - bring serious cred to the menu, with all savoury dishes and baked goods cooked using traditional methods.
Whether you have a hankering for Arabic cookies, hummus pots, Lebanese salads, Manakish (Lebanese flatbread) or Ka’ak (Lebanese-style street bread), the new Kensington site will be Ta’mini’s biggest operation yet, seating 20 to dine in or you can get your takeaway piping hot from their handmade oven at the back of the cafe.
Signature dishes include
- Cheese and sausage Manakish: homemade Lebanese spicy sausage mix (Sojok) topped with a mix of Kashkawan and Akkawi cheese
- Lebanese sesame-seed-coated street bread with your choice of topping, ranging from a simple halloumi to the ‘Sfeefa Ba'al'bakeyieh’ (minced beef and lamb, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, tahini, Arabic spices and pomegranate molasses)
- Sweet Ka’ak options, including pistachio cream cheese and honey
If you’re still recovering from the heatwave, there’s also a cold deli, where you can pick up fresh wraps and salads (such as tabbouleh), along with the likes of labneh with za’atar oil, baba ghanouj, as well as homemade lemonade and Ayran (a yoghurt-based drink).
The stretchy cheesy Kunafa Ka’ak, drizzled with rosewater sugar syrup and crushed pistachio, has our name on it.
