Harry's is opening its flagship restaurant right on the piazza in Covent Garden

harry's covent garden restaurant opening piazza

Having rolled out The Ivy to pretty much everywhere (there's a new one of those coming to Battersea in September) it looks like Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings has started focusing on Harry's as their next big brand. They opened in Victoria last year and in King's Cross earlier this summer. But all that was building up to what's going to be the restaurant group's flagship site, which gets its big launch this winter in Covent Garden.

The site they've nabbed is where Tuttons stood for nearly 40 years. It's right on the corner of the piazza beside the London Transport Museum. As such, it's got a massive terrace which will do very nicely for them in the summer months. If you haven't been to one of them before, then they channel a kind of 1950s Italian energy, serving up dishes like their popular truffled tagliolini and the much-photographed Harry's toadstool dessert.

It's going to be a pretty big opening as the agent who brokered the deal at Shaftesbury Avenue explained: "The site on the historic Piazza is one of the city’s best hospitality pitches, featuring an unrivalled al fresco dining area in the very centre of Covent Garden. As a fixture of London’s culinary scene, Harry’s is the ideal brand to do this site justice."

We'll bring you more news on details like opening dates etc, when we get them.
