Finding your way to viral sandwich shop Rogue Sarnies always felt like discovering a real hidden gem. Tucked down a cobbled alley in Bethnal Green, it still managed to sell out of its woodfired sandwiches every day. Eventually, something had to give and now the crew have decided to move to newer, bigger premises in Hackney.
The new shop is only a five-minute walk away, in one of the arches on Poyser Street, just a few shops away from another top sandwich spot Foccacia Mia. It's a properly decent-sized space, more than six times bigger than their current address, with loads of room inside and outside to enjoy the food. And if you fancy getting the guys to cater for your office lunch or even weddings, that'll be possible here too.
"The immediate demand for decent sarnies has been beyond what we ever could have expected," they explained. "We knew after six months that we had to grow to keep up. We've been saving up and waiting for the right space to come along."
If you have somehow not made it down before, here's a taste of what they're currently serving up to put you in the mood:
- The Lord Nelson - wood-fired roast topside and beef shin with sticky onions in gravy, land cress and parsley salad with horseradish cream, BBQ pickled onions and Monterey Jack cheese
- The Hot Mess - Spicy pepperoni, lemon whipped ricotta, napolina sauce, wood-fired purple sprouting broccoli with honey honey nduja
- OG Marmite Cheesy - Camembert, cheddar, Parmesan and sticky Marmite glaze
The extra space also means room for a development kitchen, so you can expect even more creative sandwiches to come your way. And there'll be an extended drinks menu with Moet by the glass, boozy slushies, beers and cocktails. The old shop will continue trading until the new one is ready to go, so London's sandwich lovers won't be left in limbo.
