Borough Market and the London Bridge area has had a lot of interesting openings this year, from Oma to Cafe Francois and there's even more to come. Next to join Borough Yards is new wine bar Quill, from the same people as Plume (originally Grays & Feather) in Covent Garden and Finch in Brixton.
Not much has been revealed about the space just yet, other than being referred to as a "decadent treehouse wine bar". They are going big on the whole Shakespearean connection with the area, saying; "Quill is more than just a bar; it’s an experience… a giant cellar of rich, storied wines, where every glass raised is a toast to exploration." And there will be a terrace space too which is "an ode to an English garden, where you can soak up the streets Shakespeare once wandered."
There is a menu, however, and if you've been to their Covent Garden wine bar, it's a familiar affair. On the food side, expect flatbreads (including hot honey halloumi or smoked aubergine) as well as hot dogs and chips.
On the drinks side, glasses/bottles start at a fairly reasonable £8/£29 so it could be an extremely handy place to stop in for a quick drink in the area.
We'll have more news on this one closer to the opening.
