You couldn't really get more of a prime London spot to open a restaurant than the corner of Piccadilly and Berkeley Street, so Tom Sellers has chosen well for his next venture. The chef behind two Michelin-starred Restaurant Story, is opening Dovetale at the upcoming 1 Hotel Mayfair. It's the hotel group's first UK hotel and they say it's going to bring "eco-conscious luxury and contemporary design to London".
We're told the restaurant will have "a deep respect for seasonal produce". Examples of dishes on the launch menu include:
- Same-day made English burrata with Amardo Manni ‘oil of life’ olive oil
- Guinea fowl & lardo terrine with duck liver parfait, Cumberland chutney & toasted brioche
- Black truffle & potato agnolotti with roast potato butter & corra linn
- Day boat caught Dover Sole "Veronique" with cauliflower, grapes & tarragon
- Grand marnier soufflé with tonka bean crème anglaise.
And we're also keen to see the Knickerbocker Glory trolly, from which they'll make the dessert tableside.
Next to the restaurant you'll find the hotel's cocktail bar, Dover Yard, run by Matteo Carretta who used to head up the bar at Davies and Brook before becoming Director of Beverage at Claridge's. And, if you fancy alfresco dining, you can head to Dovetale's outdoor terrace which will have a hammered copper fireplace and pergola, plus a private dining space.
