17/1/22 - Updated with photos

London's Ace Hotel didn't manage to last the pandemic, with confirmation that it had closed permanently back in September. But just because Ace has gone doesn't mean that there won't be a hotel there. Instead - One Hundred Shoreditch will be opening in the space in 2022.

It comes from the group who also own the swanky Pulitzer Amsterdam and London's Sea Containers (that was taken independent back in 2019) and they have big plans. Across the building, there will be a fair few new restaurants and bars.

The main restaurant will be British seafood restaurant Goddard & Gibbs, which it says will have a big focus on ethical sourcing, using local suppliers from around the country. There will also be The Wine Bar at the front of the restaurant and that will have a list featuring "modern, forward-thinking producers" (we're always pro the idea of a new wine bar in Shoreditch). On top of that is "The Hatch" which they say "takes on dishes that evoke childhood memories of trips to the seaside".

There is also - and this is particularly interesting - the Seed Library, a brand new bar from Mr Lyan/Ryan Chetiyawardana (picture below) as well as a new rooftop bar and terrace, a lobby bar and a coffee shop.

All this will require a redesign, of course, and they say that the interior will mirror "the new grown-up character of the neighbourhood." Hmm - feels like a teeny bit of a slight to the character of the Ace - we'll have to see how this one pans out.
