As the reopening of London's restaurants, pubs and bars looms (we're definitely not calling it "super Saturday" though) we've already seen many ways in which restaurants are shifting the way they work, from removing tables, adding more screening and capitalising on outside space. But there are also two huge new additions to the scene that are really making the most of the increased demand for alfresco dining and drinking.
First up is The Truman Social Club, coming to Walthamstow.
That's a huge 35,000 sq ft pub and garden with social distancing built-in right from the start. It's just the pub garden for the moment, where you can book a table for up to six people (you can walk in, but we expect this to be very popular). It's a fiver to get in, but you can then redeem that for your first pint.
They'll have a rotating line of street traders available, including Zero and Walthamstow Dogs. Later on, when restrictions are relaxed, a huge new indoor space will also open up.
Next up is The Terrace, a massive beer garden at Alexandra Palace. That's also a fiver to get in, and you'll be rewarded by a 1500 sq m garden that has some pretty amazing views right across London. It'll be table service here, and you can order everything via an app. All the food is also from street traders, with Steak It Easy, Last Night a Vegan Saved My Life and Wood Fired Pizzas all in the mix.
