We've known for some time, well before the lockdown, that Islington's Trullo (sister restaurant to Padella) had bought the shop next door. It was kept empty for a while - but now we finally have some info on what's being planned, just as they've reached their 10th birthday.
Now they've unveiled the Trullo deli. We're told to expect "all the things you love about Trullo for you to take home." So there are pasta, pulses, fine olive oil, wine and cheese, their sourdough bread and. most importantly pre-cooked meals to heat up at home. The beef shin ragu is available, as well as slow-cooked courgettes, n'duja and mascarpone, plenty of charcuterie, marinated meats to cook at home and lots more.
They'll also have picnic hampers to take to Highbury Fields (just around the corner) and desserts will include negroni ice-pops.
They'll be starting the day with freshly baked goods. They're also promising everything from "grilled marinated peppers to T-Bone steaks, salsa verde to almond tarts, sandwiches and cured meats, and of course, pappardelle with beef shin ragu."
Trullo is definitely regarded as one of the best restaurants in Islington, so this will be very welcome news to the neighbourhood.
