Over the past few weeks, we've seen the return of restaurants to London (albeit in collection or delivery form) turn from a slow trickle into something of a torrent. And as restaurants have worked out what they're able to do - a couple of distinct camps are appearing. Either they try to deliver as close to the restaurant experience as possible - or they pivot to something else during the lockdown.
Leroy in Shoreditch have gone for the latter. They've launched Royale, their delivery-only service. It's all about rotisserie chicken, which they are cooking "on a vintage Rotisol and seasoning them with our own blend of herbs and spices.". The mains are literally just that - 1/2 or whole chicken, served with potatoes, salad and dips
There are added sides too. They include whipped cod’s roe with cruditiés as well as wild garlic pesto and roast chicken aioli. We'd like a vat of the latter sent to us now, please. Finally, dessert is a citrus posset with toasted nuts and strawberries.
There's a short but well-priced selection of beers and wines from their cellar to go alongside, They really know their wines, so we'd say picking up a bottle is a must.
