Where to eat and drink at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2019

You may be the kind of person for whom the very idea of Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is worse than spending the holidays with your in-laws, in which case there's nothing to see here. If, however, like us, anything that combines rollercoasters with hot toddies, more churros than you can shake a candy cane at AND covers it all with a sprinkling of fake snow and Christmas cheer is just the thing for you, then you're in the right place.

Here's where to eat and drink when you've had your fill of going around the big wheel or cutting a dash on the ice rink.

Sitting down and under cover

There are two main options this year for a sit-down meal at Winter Wonderland.

Cedar & Spruce Bar + Kitchen

This popup restaurant is a brand new addition, set up in a trio of tepees, complete with fire pits and large communal tables. Chef Ani Arora (of Hankies London) is serving up bistro-inspired festive fare including cranberry & brie wonton with chilli cranberry jam and turkey roulade with bacon & spinach stuffing & glazed root vegetables.

It's two courses for £23.50 per head or three for £27.50. There's also a separate kid’s menu and bar snacks like venison & fig samosa served with apple chutney to go along with mulled wine and cider, craft beers and Prosecco.

The Bavarian village

For a no-holds-barred boozy fun fest head to this huge hall for buffet-style service of Bratwurst sausages, Frikadelle, Oktoberfest chicken, Potato Dumplings and Sauerkraut. They'll also be serving up hot chocolate, mulled wine and a range of German beers at the bars. We have a very soft spot for the crazy oompah band playing Britney Spears and Wizzard.

Street food

There's a strong line-up of street food options at this year's Winter Wonderland.

  • Bad Brownie - all manner of flavoured brownies including vegan and gluten-free options.
  • E8 Fish - fish and chips, panko prawns and calamari specials
  • Oh My Dog! - hand-made, heritage breed sausages
  • Makatcha - Indonesian Coconut Curry, served with rice and salad.
  • Other Side Fried - chicken burgers
  • Hanok BBQ - Korean twist on a classic Steak and Chips.
  • Truffle - all the usuals including pigs in blankets and their Christmas burger.
  • Mac Factory - all types of mac 'n' cheese
  • Ghetto Grillz - Reubens & Cubans
  • Growlers - Portuguese steak sarnies
  • Tincan - coffees
  • Fanny's Kebabs - modern kebabs
  • Born & raised - Wood-fired sourdough pizza

Drinking

Thors Tipi Bar

A Scandi-style tipi bar with fires and blankets, a real log fire and all manner of craft beers, mulled wines, hot cider and more on offer.

Bar Ice

As the name suggests this is a bar where everything from the seats to the counter is carved from ice. There's a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, all served in individual pre-carved ice glasses. The good news is you get a winter cloak and gloves on arrival to help keep you warm and cosy. Entry is from £14 which includes a drink.

German Kraft

A return from the folk behind the craft beer you'll find at Mercato Metropolitano and Mercato Mayfair - enjoy decent beer and giant pretzels.
