The arrival of a new Basque-inspired residency by a top chef at Holloway Road deli Provisions meant it was time for a return visit.

We know that times are tough for pubs, but on the flipside it's never been a better time to get a great meal at a London pub. Earlier this year we devoted a new guide to the city's pubs with great upstairs dining rooms. And now that list is about to get a new addition.

It's opened up in a space that was once Wetherspoon pub The Angel, itself followed up by an independent pub The Junction. Now it's been taken over by the Urban Pubs & Bar group. They have some interesting sites under their umbrella and they happen to own the Salt Yard group.

Eagle-eyed Hot Dinners readers have spotted that there are signs of life in the currently empty restaurant site that used to be Neighbourhood on Islington Green. Turns out that it's going to be the next branch of the popular sushi spot Sticks'n'Sushi.

Lucky Islington residents are about to get a new coffee shop, wine bar and restaurant and an ice cream parlour, all in the space of a month or so. The three businesses by co-founders Alex Young and George de Vos are taking over the old Michael's Den pub on the borders of Islington and De Beauvoir.
