    harcourt

Updated 24/3/16 with soft launch details

The Harcourt from Andrew Endean (from Hotel du Vin and Malmaison) will be a new European restaurant with more than a nod towards Nordic Cuisine. And that's a nod to its past in the guise of the Harcourt Arms.

In the kitchen is head chef Kimmo Makkonen, who’s pulling together an all-day dining menu “with Scandinavian elements”. Some of those include Swedish afternoon “Fika” (coffee break) and more. Much of the

Former Rotorino chef is opening Sardine at Old Street's Parasol gallery

A protégé of Stevie Parle is promising to bring a taste of the Mediterranean to Old Street this summer. Sardine - a name which had originally been linked to Parle's last restaurant - is opening in an annexe next to the Parasol art gallery.

Here's what we know about it:

It'll be open all day - from breakfast through to supper

The meat and fish will be from the

  • Four Winters liquid nitrogen ice-cream parlour is opening on Gloucester Road

    fourwinters

It's officially Spring, so what better time to open a liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour? Four Winters is an ice-cream company with its roots in Jordan. They're bringing their high tech take on ice-cream to Gloucester Road with their first London parlour opening in April.

If you've ever tried this kind of ice-cream, made while you wait (maybe at Camden's Chin Chin Labs), it's incredibly smooth. Four Winters have some rather lovely flavours planned

  • Dip & Flip to open on Brixton's Atlantic Road

    dipflip food

Growing south London chain Dip & Flip is going to be opening a fourth restaurant this summer. The company, which currently has branches in Battersea, Tooting and Wimbledon, will be opening on Atlantic Road in Brixton. They'll be taking over the site once held by Kaff.

And while their menu will, in the main, be the same as the other restaurants, we're told there will be a few new additions in Brixton with an emphasis on their roast meat sandwiches dipped

  • Milan's Savini restaurant takes over The Criterion

    savini

In 2015 we had the sad, but not wholly unexpected news that The Criterion - one of London's oldest restaurants - had gone into administration. But the historic restaurant's fortunes took a turn for the better at the beginning of this year when it was taken over by the illustrious Milanese company Savini.

The restaurant is now open all day - serving everything from a full English to dishes of Parma ham for breakfast. There's a set lunch (2 courses £26) with dishes like

Updated 16/3/16 with news on the soft launch

One of the best things about St Pancras station is definitely Sourced Market which has fuelled many of Hot Dinners' trips from that station. And now we hear that following a successful Crowdcube campaign, it's going to be opening two new shops in Marylebone and Victoria next year.

Whisky bar Black Rock comes to Shoreditch from the people behind Worship Street

Updated 10/3/16 with a look at the menu

It's all about the whisky at the moment - with incoming news that the same people behind the Worship Street Whistling Shop are opening Black Rock, a whisky bar in Shoreditch.

In that bar, we're to expect a stripped-back space with "a hip-hop, electro-funk soundtrack". But the centrepiece - in a big reference to the aging process -

  • More healthy food for the City with SHOT in St Paul's

    Shot

The health food trend in London is ever continuing, with a new cold pressed juice bar and healthy food restaurant on the way to St Paul’s. With an Oxford biologist and a London nutritionist (among others) behind the menu, SHOT is making sure its healthy credentials stand up. They’ve even developed a list of guidelines that they intend to really stick to – including ensuring everything is chemical free, has no refined sugars, organic, unprocessed and more besides.

    It comes

Billed as "street food with Michelin expertise", it's from founder Alex Kaye (who's looking after the menu) and with Head Chef Nick Ross who has worked with American chefs Daniel Boulud and Scott Conant (Scarpetta).

As for the food, expect a strong focus on meat and fish

  • Humble Grape Fleet Street wine bar is opening under St Bride's

    humblegrape

London is in the grip of a wine bar revolution. And there's a huge new one on the way. Humble Grape opened its first wine bar and shop in Battersea last year and now they're planning a second one - this time on Fleet Street.

They'll be taking over a huge space on St Bride’s Passage, just off Fleet Street which, fittingly, used to be The Press House Wine Bar, once a famous drinking den for journalists. It all sounds very convivial, being tucked away in the

    kojawan promo

It's fair to say that the Edgware Road probably isn't the first place you'd think of dining in some sort of modernist Japanese sky high pub. But that's exactly what's opening there this Spring. KOJAWAN - the name is an amalgam of Korea, Japan and Taiwan - is the brainchild of Bjorn Van Der Horst (Greenhouse, La Noisette, Eastside Inn) and Omar Romero (Rhodes Twenty Four, Rosewood).

They're taking over the dining room on the 23rd floor of the Hilton

Stoke Newington continues to attract a host of interesting new openings, the most recent among them being Newington Table. The evening menu kicks in at 5pm. We like the sound of their Linconshire poacher puffs for £4 or maybe
