New opening

Even by London standards, this May is a hugely busy month for new restaurant openings, with lots to look forward to over the coming weeks. From the return of chefs Giorgio Locatelli and Stevie Parle to a Dishoom offshoot in Notting Hill and so much more besides - here's what's coming your way in May.

Outside of town, they've opened three Permit Rooms, which are essentially offshoots of the main Dishoom, billed instead as all-day bars and cafes, and now they're bringing one of those to Notting Hill.

Not wanting to be left out of the general London obsession with noodles, super luxe hotel The Peninsula London is getting in on the trend. They've just opened up a noodle bar that serves up a tight menu of noodle dishes alongside Gweilo beers from Hong Kong and the bar's own cocktail list.

This PYRO comes from chef Yiannis Mexis, previously at Elystan Street, The Ledbury and Petrus and most recently head chef at HIDE. It sounds not entirely dissimilar to a nearby Borough Market restaurant in that it's billed as a Greek restaurant that's "a celebration of cooking over fire". PYRO is taking over the space

Being the chef of a Michelin-starred restaurant isn't an easy task, so you can totally understand why they might want to swap the pressures of that job for one that's a bit more fun.
