Test Driving Santo Remedio's bottomless Mexican brunch

guacThe bottomless brunch kicks off with the guacamole. One of the best of its kind in London.

Last year Santo Remedio in London Bridge launched their first brunch menu. Now they've gone one stage further with a new bottomless brunch offering, which we felt duty bound to go and check out.

It's been maybe eighteen months since we first came down to try this Mexican restaurant when it first decamped to London Bridge. Since then they've completely redesigned the upstairs dining room - making it a particularly good spot for larger groups - and they're clearly bringing in the custom.

The new brunch costs £45 and - this was the clincher for us - includes either unlimited Margaritas, cava or beer along with three courses and extra tasters. No meal at Santo Remedio should start without their amazing guacamole so brunch kicks off with a portion of this to share (grasshopper topping optional).

Here's what else we had:

margObviously, we had margaritas - and these are definitely on the lethal side (in a good way).

tacosNext up is a choice between baby potato flautas, pork carnitas tacos made with Herefordshire pork, or the prawn Aguachile Rojo. We went for the pork tacos which were super.

eggbrunchFor our first main we picked Huevos Motulenos - corn tostadas with black beans, 2 fried eggs, salsa roja, cortija cheese, grilled bacon and plantains - the full Mexican as it were.

pancakes...and chicken enchiladas suizas served up with tomatillo salsa and chihuahua cheese. There's also a choice of hibiscus flower enchiladas, torta ahogada sandwich with pork belly and a Mexican burger with chorizo, chipotle ketchup and jalapeño mayo.

churrosThere's only one dessert - and when it's churros served with a pot of cajeta, a Mexican dulce de leche sauce, why would you want any other?

And there's more to the brunch menu too - if you don't go bottomless there are more courses to choose from...

eggtacoThis dish is from the main brunch menu - the blue corn egg taco with chorizo, melted chihuahua cheese and a fried egg. What hangover could withstand this?

So yes, Santo Remedio does indeed do a fine line in brunch, and the bottomless option is up there with the best, we think.

Hot Dinners dined as guests of Santo Remedio. Prices are correct at the time of writing.
