Is New York's Danny Meyer taking over from Gordon Ramsay at Claridges?

Updated 20/1/12: Looks like our sources could be wrong folks. Asked today on Twitter whether he's taking over at Claridges, Meyer replied: 'No such plans'.

Hot Dinners heard the hottest of hot rumours yesterday that NYC restaurateur Danny Meyer will take over from Gordon Ramsay at Claridges when Gordon Ramsay Holdings' contract comes to an end this year.

Obviously it's huge news that Ramsay will no longer run the restaurant at Claridges, but at the same time not too much of a surprise as his previously expiring contract at Claridges was only extended till one year to 2012.

To anyone who's eaten at any of Meyer's many restaurants in New York, it's also a big deal if he'll be taking the reins. He runs some of the best restaurants in the Big Apple, including The Modern, Shake Shack and one of Hot Dinners' personal favourite places to eat in NYC - the Gramercy Tavern.

We'll have our ear to the ground for more info on this in the coming months and update this story as soon as we have more news. As yet, the only word from Claridges is that they're 'not making any comments about any speculation over this'.
