Hawksmoor have been seriously busy over the past year opening new restaurants, so it's nice to hear that they're going back to their roots and are revamping their original Spitalfields restaurant. There's going to be a brand new 60 seat bar which will be opening in late February.
If you're wondering where exactly they're going to fit that in - let us enlighten you. The new bar will be downstairs, to the right as you come in. Apparently it used to be a dodgy nightclub, and has been used more recently as co-owner Huw's storage for salvage finds/antiques auctions/ebay. He's finally been turfed out and now this large space is being put to much more productive use.
Hawksmoor Spitalfields' bar will serve up a full cocktail list, plus a regularly changing list of 5 exclusive drinks. But we're particularly excited about the food side of things.
They're currently testing what's going to be on the bar menu but initial front-runers are Short-Rib French Dip, Fried Oyster Roll, Chilli Cheese, Hawksmoor hot dogs, onion rings, chicken wings and fried oysters. If they're looking for willing testers, pretty much every Hot Dinners reader would be up for that job, we reckon.
