First look at menus for Dinner by Heston at the Mandarin Oriental

So the menu for Dinner by Heston is now up on the restaurant's website giving Hot Dinners a chance to peruse the menu as the restaurant opens its doors to diners this lunchtime.

The set lunch, which is a bargainous £28 for three courses is as follows:

Starters
Lemon Salad (c.1730) Goats Curd, Raisins and Verjus
Ragoo of Pigs Ears (c.1750) Anchovy, Onions and Parsley

Main courses
Cured Salmon (c.1670) Beetroot, Purslane and Olive Oil
Roast Quail (c.1590) Smoked Parsnips and Thyme

Desserts
Chocolate Wine (c.1710) Millionaire Tart
Orange Buttered Loaf (c.1630) Mandarin and Thyme Sorbet

As for the main à la carte - a few of the chefs we've spoken to who've already visited went for the Hay Smoked Mackerel (c.1730) with Lemon Salad, Gentleman's Relish and Olive Oil. That said, we rather like the sound of the Salamagundy (c.1720) which consists of chicken oysters, bone marrow and horseradish cream and we also want to try the Meat Fruit made famous by Channel 4's Heston's Feasts.

Jason Atherton raved to Hot Dinners about the Beef Royal - a 72 slow cooked short rib of Angus served up with Smoked Anchovy and Onion Puree, Ox Tongue 'delicious with the triple-cooked chips - you can't go without those!' he said, but we're intrigued by both the Powdered Duck and also the Turkey Pudding which comes with mushrooms, bone marrow...and cockscomb!

On the puddings, we've heard good things about the Tipsy Cake which is served up with spit-roast pineapple and we'll also want to try the Brown Bread Icecream which features salted butter caramel malted yeast syrup. Can't wait.
