Cornish Tiger brings 'fine casual dining' to Battersea Rise

cornishtiger-foodOpen this week on Battersea Rise is Cornish Tiger which bills itself as a 'fine casual dining' restaurant. The man behind the venture is Sat Bains. No, not the Nottingham-based Michelin-starred chef but another Sat Bains whose first restaurant this is. In the kitchen are chefs Netish Nunnan and Andrew Banyon who come from the Hurlingham Club and Roast. Front of house is Joe Silva who's also from the Hurlingham but before that Michelin star restaurant Chapter One in Kent.

With a seasonally-changing menu, they aim to source organic food where possible and from producers in Cornwall - hence the name. They're hoping to fill the gap "between gourmet fine dining and fast casual dining". So expect a starter for around a fiver and mains from £9. Dishes include sweet chilli and tamarind swordfish with carrot and coriander spaghetti for starters (pictured) and for a main, tiger-seasoned sirloin steak, hollandaise with chunky chips for £18.95.

Cornish Tiger is now open at 1, Battersea Rise SW11 1GH. They're currently open weekdays from 6pm and weekends from midday. From May they'll be open from midday all week. To book call 0207 223 7719. For more information follow them on Twitter @cornish_tiger
