London Cocktail Week - our guide to the 2014 drink festival

London Cocktail Week 2014 kicks off today (Monday 6 October), and if you’re looking for the best places to make use of your £10 wristband – read on. Here are our top picks for the week ahead…

The London Cocktail Week Wristband

Wristbands for London Cocktail Week will open up bar doors across London for just £15. You’ll be able to pick up cocktails at over 200 bars for just £4, as well as access tons of exclusive pop-ups, parties and tastings.

Must-try cocktails

We can’t wait to try the Jasmine and Hedgerow Punch being served up at Northbank Restaurant and Bar. It’s a mix of gin, crème de mure, velvet falernum, mixed berries and jasmine tea. While you’re there, you can try one of the Scotch Egg Challenge finalist's Cornish-inspired egg.

CANVAS Chelsea will be celebrating LCW with a Caramelized Passion Fruit Martinis and Champagne Mojitos.

Get experimental at The Bayou in Camden with some of their southern soul inspired cocktails. The Bacon and Maple Syrup Old Fashioned (pictured) is high on our must-try list this week.


Our pick of the pop-ups

tequilaThe CheekyTiki Pop-Up Bar at Atomica Gallery will be running events including rum tastings, film screenings, cocktail parties (of course!) and even talks on Building a Home Tiki Bar with the CheekyTiki founder.

Get tipsy on tequila at Jose Cuervo’s tequila garden, popping up for LCW at The Hoxton in Shoreditch. Try out seasonal margaritas, including the warming winter twist on the classic cocktail made with cinnamon and lime.

You won’t want to miss the pop up Angostura Butterfly House, where you can sip rum, press your own sugar cane juice and wander round the tropical garden in the middle of Shoreditch.


Events you won’t want to miss

littleredFancy a bottomless teapot of gin-infused teas? You’re in for a treat. Head over to Mr Foggs on 12th October for an incredibly Tipsy Tea party to celebrate LCW. There’ll also be sandwiches, cakes, pastries and petit-fours. With a wristband, you’ll get unlimited cocktails for 2 hours for £60 (usually £70) Bottoms up!

Visit The Zetter Townhouse in Clerkenwell on 8th October, when Parisian bartenders, Little Red Door, will be taking up residency in The Cocktail Lounge.

Head to The Punch Room at the London EDITION on Thursday 9th October where Drambuie will be holding a mixology session (£9) aimed at giving you the techniques needed to master the perfect punch, be it hot, cold, sweet or sour.
