Acme Taco is coming to Dalston with more tacos, tostadas and dishes than ever

Acme Taco is coming to Dalston

After becoming a big hit over at 40Ft Brewery in Walthamstow, Andrew Clarke is bringing Acme Taco to the original 40Ft in Dalston too.

The second Acme Taco will be landing in the 40Ft Brewery taproom. Of course, this isn't the only Acme operation in Dalston, Acme Fire Cult will be next door, but being so close to it means that the taco range at Dalston will be able to go much bigger than at Walthamstow.

As with the original, the tacos here are inspired by Clarke's journeys around Ciudad de México, where he learned his taco know-how first-hand by working in some of the greatest taco kitchens. To lead the kitchen here, he's brought in chef Ernesto Puga (who hails from Veracruz), who has most recently been at From The Ashes and Cavita. Given that Acme's Dalston home will now be turning out tacos as well as flame-grilled dishes, that's a very handy background to have.

The tacos will once again be double-layered tortillas, and options on offer include ribeye steak with cheese and poblano, Tamworth pork castacan with crackling, Swaledale lamb shoulder barbecoa, Jalisco shrimp and Westholme wagyu birria. On the tostada side, you'll find bluefin tuna with avocado & salsa macha and confit pig’s head with chicharron & habanada quince.

They're also adding a few new dishes to the Dalston menu. So you'll find XL shrimps with achiote butter and lime and Tamworth pork ribs with hot agave and pickled peppers. They'll also be putting on bigger sharing platters like grilled herb-fed achiote chicken and smoked pork hock with adobo sauce, both coming with salsas, pickles and tortillas. And to finish everything off, there will be a chocolate and black mole ganache and a dirty horchata cremeux, made with cinnamon, sweet rice milk and espresso.

Frankly, we're already ordering in stronger elastic for our waistbands. And as Acme Fire Cult will be staying there too, you'll just have to decide which Acme variant you're most in the mood for next time you're in Dalston.
