The London restaurant scene is brutal, and with all the pressures on restaurateurs right now a sub-par performing restaurant can't be left to its own devices for too long. So over on Kensington Church Street, the Wild Group has closed its Greek restaurant Krokodilos, replacing it with the new steakhouse Lucky Grill.
It's a similar formula to what they did with Fantomas on the King's Road, which is now Chelsea Grill. But the size of this restaurant is allowing them to go bigger with pretty much everything. There will be whole ribs of beef, dry-aged before being cooked on a massive grill, as well as Scottish wagyu. If you're the person who likes to see that happening up close and personal, book the six-seat chef's table between the open kitchen and the ageing fridge.
Other dishes you'll find on the menu include a selection of toasts topped with XXL anchovies, bluefin tuna or chicken liver. There's also a Mazara prawn and foie gras bikini and confit tuna salad to entice diners in. Desserts include a cheesecake brulee, sour cherry pie and Napoleon cake.
There's room for a larger bar here where you can enjoy a wine list "with a focus on France and Italy and icons from the New World, especially California".
