MasterChef semifinalist Ismail Hossain heads up new Willesden bakery and bistro Little Brother

Little Brother bakery and bistro opens in Willesden Green

Another week, another restaurant pivot and this time we're heading to Willesden Green where, after a decade of serving cheeseburgers and beer, Beer & Burger has turned into Little Brother. It's now a bakery and cafe during the day, transforming into a neighbourhood bistro in the evenings.

What's particularly exciting is the chef they've brought on board to help realise the new vision. Ismail Hussain started out as a kitchen porter in Barrica before working his way up to head chef at places like St John's Tavern in Archway and Riding House Cafe. And this year he reached the semi-finals of MasterChef the Professionals with dishes like his lamb haleem.

It's still early days with the bistro soft launching at the moment, but the cafe already seems to have gone down a storm with the locals. They're doing breakfast buns, and potato hash with fried egg for breakfast, moving on to dishes like steak and eggs and buttermilk chicken on brioche for lunch.

"Ismail and I first worked together when he joined as Head Chef at one of my gastro pubs, The Stag in Belsize Park," owner Jonathan Perritt told us. "We're excited to have launched Little Brother together."
