Robin Gill and Mr Lyan on the ticket for the London Museum's new home in Smithfield

The London Museum unveils its line-up of restaurants, bars and cafes.

Smithfield Market is about to see a major new influx of foodies this winter with the opening of the Museum of London in its new home. The reason? Well, there's going to be a restaurant, bar, cafe and rotating residency spot, all of which sound worth a look.

The museum's contract was won by catering company Green & Fortune, who have brought in chef Robin Gill and expert mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan) to give some serious heft to the food and drink offering. They're also using top restaurant designers Russell Sage Studios to do the interiors. So, here's your guide to what's going to be opening there.

Clerks House

This is the museum's main restaurant, which will be an all-day dining room and bistro. It's a big space (140 seats) and is going to try and tread the fine line between celebrating London's culinary history while still remaining relevant today. Gill is promising a take on the traditional "Billingsgate sandwich" which will feature hand-dived scallop, crispy smoked bacon and scallop roe butter, and there will be pies using meat from Green & Fortune's own farms.

Bartholemew's

Mr Lyan Studio are behind the drinks list at the museum's bar, and the drinks here are going to take inspiration from the museum's displays and exhibitions. In addition to a permanent "London Made" drinks list, there will be seasonal specials, and we're being told that a seasonal shandy serve is on the cards along with a draft lager created for the museum.

Temperance Cocoa Rooms

This is an interesting one; apparently they discovered remnants of this old cafe when they were renovating the museum. As the name suggests, this is a sober spot serving up everything from customisable hot chocolate to coffee mocktails. Most interestingly, from Thursday to Sunday it'll be open 24 hours. This will also be a place to come for a proper breakfast, lunchtime sarnies, and we rather fancy the idea of their tamarind and date-spiced Chelsea bun.

The Roost

Expect this to showcase street food concepts with a six-month rotation aiming to showcase emerging talent. The idea is that it's a takeaway by day and a small 14-seat restaurant in the evening.

All in all, it's an impressive line-up and is certainly going to make this worth checking out when it opens in November.
