It might seem like an absolutely no-brainer to open an Aussie-style cafe in Clapham given how many expats live there, but it's taken until this year for the Daisy Green group to get the memo and take their all day cafe group to the area. Owners (and fellow Aussies) Prue Freeman and Tom Onions have just opened Margot Green in Clapham Old Town and they're hoping for a big hit.
The new restaurant has taken over the old 1833 site on Clapham Old Town and residents are hoping that this is the business to make that space really work. It kicks off the day with its well-known brunches. But it's in the evening that things really kick off with BBQ dinners and an award-winning selection of cocktails, including a special margarita bar.
Dishes on the launch menu include wild white fish crudo, Parmesan custard choux balls with Vegemite dust and the intriguingly named Dick chicken. To go with that, there are more than 100 Australian bottles of wines to choose from, making this one of the biggest Aussie wine lists in the capital.
