The Devonshire is doing bar food now AND it's opened the roof terrace

Unless you've been hiding under a very capacious rock you'll know that getting a table at The Devonshire in Soho is currently one of the hardest restaurant reservations to secure in London right now.

So we're happy to bring you news of two changes at the pub that have radically enhanced your chances of eating there. The first is that they've recently introduced a bar food menu in the pub downstairs. Printed on the back of its beer mats it reads like a dream and includes sausage rolls, chips with hollandaise and a sausage on a stick. As you'd expect from the publican who used to run the annual Scotch Egg Challenge, there's also a scotch egg on there and a steak sandwich.

Of course, this being The Devonshire these aren't your run-of-the-mill bar snacks. The bacon sandwich, for example, features Iberico bacon made in-house from The Ledbury owner Brett Graham's pigs. The bread and the butter are also made in-house and then there's a choice of either Heinz ketchup or HP brown sauce.

But that's not all. Last night the pub unveiled their roof terrace and there are an extra 40 seats out there, which is definitely going to help you get a table.

"The only time the roof has been used up till now was when James Blunt threw a load of paper aeroplanes off it for a music video early in the spring." Rogers told Hot Dinners. "Our incredible team are very excited to be opening it for summer now we hope the weather is finally improving. With any luck the sun is coming out, the lobsters are on the ember grill below and the Portuguese house rosé is on ice. We think the atmosphere will be electric."
