London's continued obsession with competitive socialising is continuing ever apace. They already have a venue in Moorgate, but now indoor clay pigeon shooting bar Clays is getting ready to open in Canary Wharf.
As you might expect, these aren't real clay pigeons (that would get very messy) but the virtual kind. You can pull together a team of up to 20 people for a 90-minute clay pigeon experience and shoot away at a screen that is a simulation of the British countryside. They're also touting a system that is "maximum precision down to the sub-millimetre" so you will need to be actually good at the shooting. On a positive note, at least these guns won't have a massive kick to them.
Of course, being a bar, they'll have plenty of cocktails like ‘Jack’s Orchard’ which tastes of toffee apples and a whisky kick and the ‘Precision Punch’ which is a banana spiced rum drink. They['ll also be using a special clarification method to produce crystal-clear cocktails (there will be wine and beer too, of course).
Snacks also sound decent. They're by Roger Olsson (previously The Dorchester, The Ritz and Pierre De Terre) and include sweetcorn ribs with paprika salt & a lemon & chilli dip, Cobble Lane charcuterie and “KFC” tempura cauliflower.
So if you fancy letting off some steam with a bit of clay pigeon shooting - this is for you.
