You may have come across Coravin before - they are behind those special machines that can serve glasses of wine while keeping the bottle sealed up so it stays fresh. They've appeared in a number of bars, restaurants and wine bars - but now they're going it alone with a pop-up wine bar in Mayfair. They're taking over La Cave Wine Bar which is tucked away in Lancashire Court.
At the pop-up, they'll have 300 wines available by the glass, as well as 50 types of Champagne and sparkling wine, from Krug to Dom Perignon. Master Sommelier Xavier Rousset, the man behind the original 28-50, Cabotte, Blandford Comptoir and more is behind the list so it should be something pretty special. They'll have a wine shop next to the bar too, if you fancy taking something home.
To go with all that lovely wine, there will be cheese (from La Fromagerie) and charcuterie platters (from The Great British Charcuterie Co) as well as rillettes, burrata and carpaccio, not to mention nduja, fresh ricotta, honey & rocket toasties.
All in all, it should be a very handy new wine bar in the run-up to Christmas.
