We'd been hearing for quite some time that Kitchen Table's James Knappett was getting involved with a pub, and then it was confirmed as a Chelsea classic - The Cadogan Arms.

The pub had been closed for renovation since back in 2019 and is getting ready to unveil its new look. It's all a collaboration between Dominic Jacobs, who runs the Running Horse in Mayfair (an excellent boozer) and a group of investors that include the mighty JKS. As well as running Gymkhana and Hoppers, JKS are also behind Kitchen Table - which is where James Knappett comes in. 

Knappett will be the pub's Culinary Director, Dominic Jacobs is MD, while Executive Chef will be Alex Harper, from The Ledbury and The Harwood Arms. He has experience growing up in pubs so should be putting it to good use here. Plans are for simply prepared British produce, with a big focus on provenance. 

That menu includes:

  • Boneless Crispy Lamb Ribs with Anchovy and Sorrel Yoghurt
  • Brown Crab Quiche, Horseradish Crème, Lemon and Herb Salad
  • Black Garlic Chicken Kiev with  Shaved Fennel Salad
  • Strawberry Sherry Trifle, and Cambridge Burnt Cream.

There are, of course, Sunday roasts, which include Roast Longhorn sirloin with bone marrow sauce, horseradish crème, beef fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings - so this could well be a new addition to London's best Sunday roasts. 

As for the look of the place, they've been aiming to regrate the Georgian origins of the pub, with details including a wrought iron staircase, mosaic flooring, hand-carved bar and fireplaces for the winter months. 

So the menu here should be well worth crossing town for. Details of exactly what they'll be serving up are thin on the ground right now - but we expect great things. Drinks include new cocktails and one we like the sound of - the "Tiny French 75" that's poured from the freezer and designed to match any of the beers on offer. Other drinks include the Blackcurrant Negroni (gin, blackcurrant leaf, vermouth, Campari), and a Dirty Martini (vodka, french vermouth, amalfi lemon oil, olive oil and a supplement Exmoor Caviar).

It absolutely sounds like a pub worth crossing town for.
