Although it's been more than two months since lockdown ended for restaurants, there are still quite a few that have yet to reopen their doors fully.
One such establishment is Otto's on Gray's Inn Road, which has forged one hell of a reputation for itself for all the Gueridon service it does at your table. The canard press, in particular, has become the stuff of legend. Since the summer, they've been operating on an ad hoc basis, opening for the odd day or two here and there. And they're now taking bookings for three days next week.
It's a set menu - with all manner of treats including foie gras and Sauternes terrine and a must-have porcini mushroom consomme baked under a puff pastry dome. If you want the duck press you have to let them know ahead of time.
Does this mean they're almost ready to reopen fully? "We're planning on starting to open more from October," they told Hot Dinners. "Not quite full time and we're still ironing out the details. Hopefully, we'll open at least four days a week."
