Patrick Powell's Allegra is back in Stratford - with a difference. Obviously you can't head up to their restaurant on the 7th floor just yet, so they've come back down to the ground to team up with The Stratford restaurant that's in the same building
Powell himself will be in charge of the pizza oven on the terrace where they'll be serving up Roman-style pizzas, including a margherita, chorizo & pickled chilli and a white pizza with ricotta, caramelized onion, fennel & spring greens.
There will also be weekly-changing ice-cream sandwiches, kicking off with strawberry & cream with a miso cookie and a rum & raisin with a shortbread cookie (which both sound amazing).
On top of all that, there will be an outdoor bakery, deli and greengrocer. They'll have coffee from Union Roasted, Allegra’s sourdough & soda bread, brioche donuts, lamb & harissa sausage rolls, seasonal British vegetable boxes, finish-at-home pasta kits and a daily offering of Allegra's favourite summer wines. The pasta kits come with sauces that include beef shin ragu and a gordal olive & tomato sauce alongside aged parmesan.
If you're in the Stratford area, this sounds like a must-visit.
