Rumours hit last week about a potential closure of Nobu Berkeley Street - and this week they've been confirmed. The restaurant (which has been on the spot for 15 years) is to close soon, to be replaced by a new high-end Italian restaurant Il Borro.
The new restaurant is apparently "inspired by the prestigious Il Borro Estate in Tuscany and will be "serving customers authentic Italian produce all day, sourced primarily from Il Borro’s renowned Tuscan estate in Italy." Just who will be heading up the restaurant over here is still under wraps - we'll add more info about that as soon as we get it.
But Nobu fans need not despair. London will still have the same amount of their restaurants as before. The new Nobu hotel is opening in Marylebone in the summer - so the operation is essentially upping sticks to the new location. Whether it will continue to be the celeb and footballer haunt that it has been up till now remains to be seen.
The Berkely street sale was secured by Knight Frank.
