What: Kalifornia Kitchen
In a nutshell: Vegan food, ‘Kalifornia’-style
Summing it all up: An all-day vegan cafe in Fitzrovia, eschewing junk food in favour of healthy, nutritious dishes.
The low-down
Yet another vegan spot is opening in London, and this time it’s the turn of Kalifornia Kitchen which is coming to Fitzrovia next month. If you’ve been in the area recently you may well have spotted the site with its bright pink exterior, a colour scheme that’s continued inside with pink walls, a pink spiral staircase, and plenty of neon and green foliage.
If that sounds like it’s been created for the Instagram generation then it won’t surprise you to learn that founder Loui Blake is himself a ‘vegan influencer’. The menu will be less junk food and more about fresh properly healthy options such as Beetroot Puree on sourdough with avocado rose, vinaigrette, lemon and dill for breakfast. Heartier dishes available for lunch and dinner will include a Burrito Bowl (black beans, pico de gallo, sweet potato, romain, cashew adobo, smoked paprika); Red Lentil Dahl (pickled aubergine, flatbread and cashew lime cream); and the aubergine katsu curry.
On the drinks side there’s CBD-infused coffee - that's coffee infused with Cannabidiol - as well as immunity booster shots and freshly-made super juices.
