- A Holloway supperclub with ambition: we Test Drive Croft Kitchen
It's been far too long since we went to a London supperclub, so having written about the arrival of Croft Kitchen in Holloway a few weeks ago, we decided to rectify that. There were a few reasons why. First it was incredibly local, which is always a plus point (but that said it's barely a 5 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station - so pretty easy for transport). Secondly, the team involved had all manner of interesting places on their CVs.

... - Bone Tea opens a broth bar in Westbourne Park
Now this is something new for town - just opened in Westbourne Park is London's first broth bar - called Bone Tea. What is a broth bar, you ask? Essentially it's slightly poshed up stock, something which has apparently been a hit in the states (see Brodo for an example). It's also been seen as something of a healthy drink too in "wellness circles" (although
... - Pilau settles down with their Indian street wraps in Soho
A short while ago, we reported on a new pop-up appearing at Leicester Square station called Pilau (following an earlier stint at Old Street). It proved very popular indeed, so much so that they've now settled down in Soho for a long-term residency. They've taken up a spot just beside the Berwick Street Market and

- Ten Bells chef to open rooftop restaurant Brooksby's Walk in Homerton
There's a new summertime bar and rooftop restaurant on the way to Homerton, and it has Jarrod Cooke and Chef Giorgio Ravelli - who took over Upstairs at the Ten Bells from the Clove Club - at the helm.
The main focus is around Italian sharing plates. The plan is to feature some of their top dishes from the Ten Bells alongside new additions. Planned for the menu is:
- Razor clams, grapefruit sauce
- Poached egg bar opens in Dalston's Beyond Retro
We've had cafe's devoted to cereal, porridge, cheese toasties, even polenta - but it looks as though the single ingredient trend of the foreseeable future for London is the humble egg. In addition to Bad Egg which is already running in Moorgate we've already written about ...
- Chinese Laundry brings 80s style Chinese food to Islington
There's another restaurant on the way to Islington and this looks like an interesting spin on a traditional Chinese restaurant...
It's an all-day family-style Chinese restaurant serving food that harkens back to 80s China. The dining room will be kitted out to evoke a family style all-day dining room with an "80s Chinese home theme with kitsch items". It's designed by Michalis Boyed Studio, who
... - The folk behind The Grafton are opening The Gipsy Queen in Kentish Town
Kentish Town is about to get a new pub. Well actually it's an old pub, given a new look, but an old name. Confused? Let us enlighten you.
What was most recently The Bluebell and before that The Westport Inn on Malden Road, was for years before that known as The Gipsy Queen. Now the couple who run popular nearby gastropub The Grafton, Susie Clarke and Joel Czopor, have taken it over and are planning to reopen it at the end of June. And they're giving it back its

Another day, another new barbecue restaurant announced for London. But Austen's Smokehouse, which is set to grace Kensal Rise with its presence very soon, certainly has a few things going for it that no other 'cue place does. The first is who's running the show here - none other than BBQ maniac DJ Yoda. Hot Dinners grabbed some time with him to find out what a DJ is doing opening a restaurant.

... - Kanada Ya opening second London ramen bar off Haymarket
12/11/15 - updated with soft launch info.
As anyone who's walked past the original, which only opened last year, Kanada Ya is almost as hard to get into as Bao and Barrafina. Every time we pass by, there's always a significant queue outside (particularly on weekends).
So it's good news indeed that they're already opening a second branch. And it's a bit bigger than the original too - with 56 seats over
