Taiwanese | Soho, Fitzrovia, Covent Garden
The hugely popular Taiwanese dumpling restaurant arrived in London to serve up their famous steamed soup dumplings and lots more. The queues around the blocks may have gone, but the consistency is still there.

"Thin pastry, rich, boiling stock. Perhaps not reaching the exquisite heights of Royal China Club. But that’s a rather more boutique gig. So we mix our shredded ginger with soy and vinegar, pour over dumpling in spoon, bite small hole in pastry, slurp out stock, then devour in one. They taste of Din Tai Fung." READ REVIEW

"I have eaten richer, fierier, more eye-popping versions of these dishes – at Royal China Club on Baker Street the day before, for example, where I went to set my dim sum dials in preparation – but at these prices, in these volumes, the delicacy and repeated replication of the platonic ideal is nothing short of a miracle." "But, no, you were caught up in hype, so now you can’t accept anything less than being shot in a rocket to the Cantina bar in Star Wars, where the dumplings are served by magical unicorns that lick the oldness off your face between plates, leaving you more youthful by the time the bill arrives. Anything less than that is a letdown." READ REVIEW
