Pearl Liang

8 Sheldon Square, Paddington Central, London W2 6EZ

This longstanding Chinese restaurant is always crazily busy and there’s a reason for that - you can always rely on it for great dim sum. The banquet menus make it a solid spot for large group gatherings - handy for family catch-ups or business lunches. Outside of dim sum, the fried soft-shell crab is a must.

El Pirata Detapas

115 Westbourne Grove, London W2 4UP

El Pirata Detapas is a younger offshoot of a long-established Mayfair tapas restaurant. Reviews so far have been good, but best of all is their set lunch menu deal - with two tapas, bread, alioli and a glass of wine or sherry for just £9. Now that's a bargain.
