Can Jamie Oliver make The Ivy's director a TV star?

fernando peireHe's already a well-known face to any regular at the Ivy restaurant, now Caprice Holdings Director Fernando Peire is trying his hand at television. Peire's the star of a new pilot show, being made by Jamie Oliver's TV production company, called The Restaurant Inspector. He's been spending time trying to turn a Ramsgate bistro into a destination restaurant. The bistro in question hadn't been named, but local food blogger Eastcliff Richard let the cat out of the bag, revealing it to be the Alexandra Ristorante on Ramsgate's Harbour Parade.

Five's channel controller Richard Woolfe described Fernando as 'like the kid who's been let loose in the sweet shop. He's so excited about it'. Peire, joined the Ivy back in 1990, relaunched Quo Vadis and is now director of The Ivy and the Club at The Ivy.

If all goes well with the pilot, which screens this Autumn, there could be a six part series in the offing.
