Harrods to start selling takeway dishes from Michelin-starred LIMA

As if the residents of Knightsbridge didn't have a sufficiently large portion of good fortune, they can now enjoy deli food from LIMA when they next pop into Harrods for groceries. From the beginning of March, the food halls there will sell an exclusive collection of Peruvian goodies.

So if you happen to be in the area and fancy some salmon and seabream ceviche; potatoes huancaina, empanadas or v…

Hawksmoor heads to New York with Hawksmoor NYC

Updated 18/7/18 with the new location

We're getting quite used to American steakhouses making their way to the UK but we've always known that we've had a very select few London places which are as good, and even better, than their American cousins. And now the tables are turning as the people who changed the London steak scene, Hawksmoor, are heading for the States.

They've been planning th…

Today's been a good day for Chelsea restaurant The Five Fields which has been given four rosettes by the AA. Lucky Chip put (past tense) a Mark Wahlberg burger on the menu

How have seven whole days in 2016 passed without us doing a burger story? Well let us rectify that right now with news of a new Lucky Chip burger hitting Islington this month.

The Mark Wahlberg, so named because of his apparent "total awesomeness", will be on at the Old Queen's Head until the end of January and features 35 day aged Long-horn beef patty, braised beef short rib, American Cheese,…

Ruby's are expanding to bring Ruby's Bar and Lounge to Dalston

It's been four years since Ruby's cocktail bar came to Dalston and now they're about to open a second place next door - Ruby's Bar and Lounge. This time it's as much about the food as the drink (but there are changes afoot there too). It'll also be the latest place in town to be an all-in-one venue, with a stage area for live music, weekend DJs and more.

The food will see a number of people take…

Salut European restaurant opens on Islington's Essex Road

Here's another new opening that went under the radar just before Christmas (thanks to Stephanie Colburn for the heads up). It's called Salut, billed as a "Modern European Restaurant in Islington"  but also as " a fusion between Nordic and French with some German influence". It's opened on Essex Road (taking the space of what used to be 3 Course).

Run by two German brothers who have a fair bit of…

Low, Slow and Juke BBQ opens between Victoria and Westminster

There's more barbecue on the way, this time to an area of London - between Victoria and Westminster - which can be something of a wasteland for decent restaurants. It's called Low, Slow and Juke and is a combo cocktail bar and barbecue restaurant.

It's taking over the space that used to be The Abbey Pub, a huge lower ground area on Abbey Orchard Street (it fits around 150). Food-wise, they'll hav…

Here's another place that opened quietly before Christmas. It's taken over from La Bouchon Fourchette on Mare Street, and it's now serving Spanish tapas and cocktails, coming from the people behind Three Eight Four and Seven at Brixton.

On the food front, there are traditional and contemporary Spanish tapas dishes. The tapas menu does look lovely on a quick glance - including

Ichiryu udon noodle bar coming to New Oxford Street

There's a new udon restaurant getting ready to open on New Oxford Street (which seems to be finally getting some decent places to eat).

Ichiryu is from the people behind Japan Centre and Shoryu - they'll have traditional Japanese udon, sushi and sides with a "modern twist". That udon will be served chilled or hot, with a variety of freshly prepared toppings.

And they're having a soft launch too…
