What to do in London over the late May bank holiday weekend

If you're not heading out of London for the beach, but are staying in town determined to make the most of what this city has to offer, then we can help with that. We've rounded up the best food and drinks things going on in London for the late May bank holiday weekend.

Long weekend planning

StrEATlife this weekend at Alexandra Palace

24-25 May (Alexandra Palace) - StrEATlife is back at Alexandra Palace, bringing together 20 of London's food and drink traders, with burgers, tacos, hot dogs, Lebanese bowls, Latin soul food, lobster rolls, crepes, katsu curry and more on offer. It's also a craft beer festival, so expect lots of beer choices. It's free to enter too.

From 22 May (Walthamstow) - Starting this weekend and lasting all summer is the Big Penny Beach Club, their yearly pop-up outside the venue. This year, it features a gelateria from Hackney Gelato, a spritz bar from Aperol, Camden Town Brewery pints on tap, frozen cocktails, fish & chips, special BBQ days and more.

23 May (Bethnal Green) - Sugar Pie is having another pie sale from her window with six pies on offer, including a brown sugar custard pie, a pandan mango cream pie, a Mississippi mud pie and more. All will be available by the slice or as whole pies.

23 May (Covent Garden) - Taking over the food exchange at New Covent Garden Market in Nine Elms is the Food Power Tasting Showcase 2026. It's a chance to try dishes from 12 refugee-led burgeoning businesses and food startups.

Free frozen Margs at Seven Dials Market

25 May (Covent Garden) - From noon, Seven Dials Market will be giving away 100 free frozen margaritas from Bar Nana on the ground floor (first-come, first-served). Should be perfect for the promised scorcher of a day.

23 May (Walthamstow, Dalston) - Happy Endings is starting a new residency at both 40FT Breweries, with ice cream sandwiches like The Naughty One, with miso salt caramel parfait and soy dulce de leche between chocolate Guinness cake slices, a well as soft serve ice cream and new flavours. They're also giving away 40 free ice creams

23-25 May (Brentford) - The Foodies' Festival is back for another year at Syon Park. They'll have chef showcases, cook-offs and music each day.

24 May (Shoreditch) - If you've ever fancied having a piece of The Clove Club, you'll want to get down to their archive sale this weekend. On offer throughout the day will be crockery, tableware, glassware, bespoke Japanese ceramics, and one-off pieces from the dining room and kitchen. Plus they'll be selling off some great wine from the restaurant's cellar.

24 May (De Beauvoir) - Albers is having a fried chicken pop-up as part of a team-up with an upcoming animated mini-series serving "quite possibly the best ‘Gentrifried Chicken’ you’ve ever had".
