This month featured an excellent tart at Big Mamma's new opening, fantastic pineapple in Ibiza, Will Poulter on taco duty and a very daunting Guinness milkshake...

Myrtos (South Kensington) - Lamb moussaka
London has been haveing a boom in great Greek restaurants of late, and Myrtos falls firmly into that group. There's a lot to love about the menu but this perfectly simple presentation of moussaka was top of the bill for us.

Marjorie's (Soho) - Poached chicken, rice, brown butter
Marjorie's has been an immediate hit in Soho, and we thought Giacomo Peretti's cooking here, taking a little Parisian influence, was excellent. The best of a great bunch was this chicken dish, where the crunchy rice was scraped off the bottom of a pan - a must-order.

Eel Sushi (Area) - Nigiri selection
Owned by the same people behind the Notting Hill Fish Shop (and Dorian) Eel Sushi has deservedly been all over social these past weeks. but this is very much more than just an Insta wonder, the sushi is very, very good. Just look at this amazing nigiri selection and you can see what we're talking about.

Twenty8 Nomad (Covent Garden) - Galician Blonde ribeye
We've always been fans of the dining room at Nomad and the refresh improves it even further. The menu's been given a refresh too and this excellent Galician steak was the best dish of the night. Yes, we did take some home and we very much appreciated it the next day.

Side Hustle (Covent Garden) - Will Poulter's Sweet Caroline taco
Celebs in the kitchen can sometimes raise an eyebrow, but the collabs at Side Hustle have been really well thought out. Will Poulter from The Bear (and so many other things) literally delivered to us a fantastic taco which is available at the bar until 4 July. It's named after his mother, with influences from The Bear in there, and proceeds go to charity. Highly recommended.

Straits Kitchen (City of London) - Cornish crab pappardelle with a laksa emulsion
Fusion food can often be an experiment that ends up serving neither cuisine, but at Pan Pacific London we found chef Adam Bateman creating a menu that's influenced by the hotel group's South Asian origins but uses western techniques and amazing British produce to come up with something that's truly original (and delicious).

45 Jermyn St (St James) - Beef Wellington
We love a bit of tableside theatre and the arrival of the beef Wellington trolley at 45 Jermyn St definitely delivers on that front. Presented whole and then carved for you, the sauce is then flambeed beside you before being poured all over the Wellington. Heaven.

Flesh & Buns (Area) - Sweet & spicy BBQ pork ribs topped with spring onion
The competition for the Best in Taste award each year at Taste of London is always hotly contested and we're lucky enough to have been judges for this for a few years now. This year the gong went to Flesh & Buns for this perfect festival dish of pork ribs.

Cala San Miguel Resort (Ibiza) - Pineapple with citrus
"Go on, see if you can guess what the secret ingredient is..." said our server in Ibiza last weekend. There was a distinct hit of methol and heat, but we honestly would never have guessed that crushed Halls cough sweets were the magic touch. So odd, but it somehow worked.

Black Tap (Soho) - Guinness CrazyShake
Some may bristle at the fact that we've put this concoction in her as the "best" of the month, but we have to admit that we quite liked this utterly insane Guinness/shake hybrid. Yes, we did wish we'd taken the Guinness cake on top home rather than try to eat it there and then (paired with a burger, we were really defeated by that point), but honestly - we'd try it again. Maybe the one on the right next time, though...

Angel Inn (Highgate) - TBC
The joy of having someone else make Sunday lunch is a highlight of any weekend, and our trip up to Highgate to check out The Angel Inn, which has just been taken over by the same team as The Red Lion & Sun proved a winner. Controversially, it wasn't the roast beef we loved most but this amazing slow-roast belly of pork.

Barbarella (Canary Wharf) - Pepper Tarte Tatin
Big Mamma's Canary Wharf outpost is as maximalist as ever but the food remains notably decently priced with a few new additions on the menu. Working best for us was this savoury take on a tarte tatin that was an honestly excellent twist on a classic dish.
