Raise a toast to these long-running London restaurants, which are putting on special birthday menus to celebrate.
Pied a Terre
Fitzrovia- 34 Charlotte St., London W1T 2NH
London's longest-standing Michelin-starred restaurant turns the ripe old age of 35 this year and it's still very much on top form. New to the kitchen is former sous chef Aggelos Kassais returning as head chef and he's launching an anniversary menu that matches the age of the restaurant. The set menu is £35 and a canapé, starter and main course. It's available both at lunchtimes and for early dinner bookings there's also a fully plant-based option if you're doing Veganuary.
Gunpowder
Soho, Spitalfields, Tower Bridge
Launched as a personal gathering of dishes from founder and chef Harneet and Nirmal's home cooking memories, Gunpowder is celebrating its tenth birthday this year. To celebrate, they're rolling back the clock to offer the restaurant's original menu and pricing from when it first opened its doors on White's Row in Spitalfields all the way back in 2016. Now with three restaurants in the group, guests can enjoy dishes like chilli cheese toast for £3 and maa’s Kashmiri lamb chops for under a tenner throughout January.
The Cinnamon Club
Westminster - The Old Westminster Library, Great Smith St, London SW1P 3BU
For chef Vivek Singh's Westminster restaurant, 2026 marks its 25th birthday. And to commemorate reaching their quarter century, a real milestone in any London restaurant's book, they've devised a Retro Menu celebrating the dishes they've become known for. Best of all are the prices, which have been rolled right back to 2001. So the seared calf’s liver with masala mash and spiced onion chutney will only set you back £6, while a Vindaloo of pork chop with pilau rice is just £15. The menu will run from 12-31 January and can be booked here.
Home SW13
Barnes- 94 Church Rd, London SW13 0DQ
Home is using a bit of creative licence to commemorate the birthday of its predecessor, Sonny's, which first opened in Barnes 40 years ago. And while Sonny's may be no more, it's now the restaurant Home with the same restaurateur, Rebecca Mascarenhas, at the helm. They're taking part in Good Food Guide's Restaurant Month to bring back some of the classic 1986 opening dishes as part of a three-course lunch for £19.86. Bookings go live at 10am on Friday morning and it runs from 13 January to 13 February.
Also celebrating:
Quo Vadis
Soho - 26-29 Dean St, London W1D 3LL
While it's not doing a special menu, Quo Vadis in Soho has made it to the amazing 100-year-old mark this year. To celebrate, they're doing a special centenary edition of Quo Vadis & Friends. Supperclubs are planned throughout the year with Chef Proprietor Jeremy Lee joining forces with everyone from Margot and Fergus Henderson to Asma Khan, Angela Hartnett and Calum Franklin.
The restaurant is also putting on two special dishes each month, paying homage to Peppino Leoni’s original Quo Vadis classics. For January, those are Pollo alla Orvieto and Monte Bianco.
