The Manicomio team are behind new City Italian restaurant Campanelle

roomA dish from sibling restaurant Manicomio

The City has a brand new Italian worth checking out this summer. Campanelle is from the same team behind such classic London restaurants as Manicomio in Chelsea and Canto Corvino in Spitalfields. They've taken over the restaurant in a Grade II listed building between Fenchurch Street and Leadenhall Market. And it looks like an amazing space, having once been the home to the London Shipping Exchange, with room for 180 diners.

Based on the menu, it looks to be a modern Italian offering with a strong emphasis on seasonality. Certainly, freshly made pasta will be a key element and they're promising campanelle (bell-shaped pasta) to match their name.

Dishes on the launch menu include

  • Beef fillet tartare, quail egg, focaccia crostini
  • Monkfish ravioli, clam sauce
  • Veal cotoletta alla milanese with prosciutto & parmesan

Like their Manicomio restaurant in the City, this location will be open all day, allowing power breakfasts to kick off with baked eggs served with nduja and Tuscan bread, among other treats.
