We've had a lot of news about pub openings and revamps recently, and now here comes one a little closer to home (well, our homes anyway). The Highbury Barn, a large pub right in the middle of Highbury village, which dates back to 1840, is getting ready to reopen after a £500,000 revamp.
Anyone who's been there will know that it's a big old space and now they're adding a new bar at the back, while also revamping the dining room and the outside area.
They've also brought in a new Head Chef Sara O’Neil, previously sous at The Gatehouse in Highgate Village (also owned by Urban Pubs, the owners of The Highbury Barn). A new menu is planned (details to be revealed), but they'll be making good use of local Highbury produce, including meat from the amazing butcher Frank Godfrey across the road and cheese from La Fromagerie, a few doors down. They'll also have oyster nights on Thursdays, with £1.50 oysters on offer.
We've known this pub for a very long time, so we'll be curious to see what this new revamp brings.
