You'll see Rick Stein restaurants all over Padstow, but at the moment his only London outpost is in Barnes (a notably great restaurant for riverside dining). But if you fancy trying the chef's dishes in a little more of a central location, it might be worth checking out the special Rick Stein menu that Fortnum's are putting on at their Royal Exchange outpost.
It's all to celebrate 50 years of The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, which is quite the milestone. They're adding five classic dishes from Stein's repertoire to the Fortnum's menu, highlighting when they were first introduced and the Rick Stein era they cover. They are:
- Fish Soup (1975 – 1985)
- Small Shellfish Plate (1985 – 1995)
- Grilled Lobster with Fines Herbes (1995 – 2005)
- Turbot Hollandaise (2005 – 2015)
- Chocolate Fondant (2015 – 2025)
The menu has been put together with son Jack Stein (who happens to be chef director at Rick Stein Restaurants) and if you want to try the classic dishes, you'll have two months over the summer to get them.
