Now this is a clever idea. If your restaurant is more of a dinner place but you want to make the space pay for itself during the day, then why not team up with a cafe/bakery? That's what Empire Empire's owner Harneet Baweja is about to do. But the restaurateur hasn't chosen just any old bakery to team up with, he's joining forces with Edward Delling Williams, founder of super hip Parisian bistro Le Grand Bain and bakery Le Petit Grain.
The result is Moi et Toi - a bakery that will take over the Empire Empire space each morning. The idea is to serve up pastries that combine French patisserie with British flavours. On the launch menu you can expect:
- Coconut and stewed pineapple buns
- Peanut butter pain au chocolat
- Earl grey custard tart
If you lean more towards the savoury side of the spectrum there will also be pastries filled with charred leeks, cacio e pepe and aged Parmesan or Camembert along with a range of focaccia sandwiches. Drinks will include Monmouth coffee and house-made chai.
