After opening the last Ottolenghi in Hampstead, the group are going much further west with the next due to open in Richmond.
However, unlike their other openings, this one hasn't gone quite as smoothly. It turns out the residents of Richmond aren't too happy with all the eating and drinking establishments in their part of town, and decided to put up something of a fight. According to a piece in MyLondon, while the new deli and restaurant has now been approved, the locals put up quite a fight, concerned at people being "pumped out into the evening" every night.
The building used to sell beds, so it's quite a shift to becoming a restaurant, but the Ottolenghi team has assured residents that they'll be keeping noise to a minimum and, in their words, won't be contributing to any "alcohol-fuelled disorder" in the area.
We'll have more news on this closer to the opening date.
