SOMA is the new standalone bar in Soho from Kricket

The people behind Kricket are getting ready to open something new, and quite different from before. This time it's a standalone basement bar in Soho, called SOMA, taking over the building right next door to Kricket Soho (which used to be a club and karaoke bar).

SOMA will still carry on the Indian influences that you'll see in Kricket, and more besides with drinks including:

  • Gooseberry Chaat Margarita - tequila, triple sec, homemade gooseberry cordial and chaat masala
  • Coconut and Jaggery Old Fashioned - bourbon, jaggery, toasted and desiccated coconut and mace bitters
  • Pickled Mooli Martini - vodka, dry vermouth, lightly pickled mooli and fennel oil

There will be "Indian-accented" snacks too, like homemade crackers made using leftover rice from the restaurants, served with a yoghurt dip.

As for the look - that promises to be quite striking too. The main bar space will be dominated by a 9-metre communal steel bar in the centre of the room, seating around 23 - but with a small lounge bar off to the site too (which can be made into private rooms).
